Account Deletion.

How to close your XcroTrust account, what is removed, and which records we are required to keep.

Last updated · September 2, 2026

1. Deleting your account in the app

  1. Open the XcroTrust app and sign in.
  2. Go to Profile → Account Settings → Delete Account.
  3. Confirm your identity when prompted. Closing an account is a protected action and requires the same verification used for payments.
  4. Enter the confirmation code sent to your registered email address, give a reason, and type DELETE to confirm.

The confirmation code can be used once and expires. If it expires, start again from step 2.

2. If you cannot access the app

Email support@xcrotrust.com from the address registered to the account. We will verify that the request comes from the account holder before acting on it, which may require you to confirm details of the account.

3. When deletion cannot proceed immediately

A deletion request is declined while you have an escrow transaction still in progress — for example one that is funded, awaiting delivery, in its inspection window, or under dispute. Money held in escrow belongs to a transaction between you and another person, and closing the account while it is in flight would leave that money unresolved.

Complete, cancel or resolve any open transactions, then request deletion again.

4. What is deleted

  • Your profile: name, display name, profile photo and contact details.
  • Your sign-in credentials, including any passkeys and authenticator enrolment.
  • Active sessions on every device, and your push notification registration.
  • The encrypted identity data submitted for verification.

Once deletion completes you can no longer sign in, and the account cannot be selected as a counterparty for a new transaction.

5. What is retained, and why

Some records are kept after an account closes. XcroTrust operates a payments service, and these records evidence money that moved between two people:

  • Transaction and payment records — needed to evidence completed transactions to the other party and to meet financial record-keeping obligations under Nigerian law.
  • Verification outcomes — the result of an identity check, retained for anti-money-laundering and know-your-customer obligations. The underlying identity numbers are deleted; the outcome is not.
  • Dispute records and the evidence submitted to them — needed so a resolved dispute remains evidenced for the other party.
  • Security and administrative logs — needed to investigate fraud and to show who took administrative action on an account.

Retained records are kept for the period required by applicable Nigerian financial regulation and are not used to contact you or for marketing.
